Expedited shipping is also available for 15% of the total order cost.

Braille Services

Kansas Braille Transcription Institute in Wichita, KS is here to provide thorough and efficient Braille transcription services to our customers. Our goal is have your work transcribed in a timely manner. We pride ourselves on offering quality services to the area that you won’t find anywhere else.

Transcription

There are many ways in which we are able to translate your materials, some of which are accomplished more easily than others. For example, materials that require manual input will take longer than materials which are sent to us via email; materials that require scanning will take longer than materials sent to us on a floppy disk, flash drive, or CD. Most material sent via fax cannot be scanned and requires manual input.

If you have an embosser and would like us to translate, format and return your order by email, please note that we produce all Braille in Windows versions of Braille translation software only; we are not presently able to produce Braille with Macintosh-compatible translators.

Because of the difference in size between print and Braille, one page of text normally translates into several pages of Braille, usually 3 or more.

Completion Time

We strive to fill all orders promptly, so it is necessary for us to have sufficient time in which to complete them. There is a minimum lead time of four business days per order for small orders of literary Braille. Orders involving Nemeth code, tactile graphics, musical notation, or foreign languages, or orders requiring mass production, may take significantly longer. Orders submitted electronically will also be completed faster than orders that require scanning and manual input. We will, however, be happy to review the materials and estimated time required with you by telephone, fax or email prior to beginning the order. If you need to have your order returned to you by mail, additional time may be required, depending on order specifics and method of shipping.

All Braille contracts are handled by National Certified Transcribers in Literary, Textbook, Nemeth and
Music formats.
