The U.S. American Tactile Flag was designed at the Kansas Braille Transcription Institute (KBTI) in Wichita, Kansas.

In commemoration of blind American Veterans everywhere, we would like to thank you for your donation toward one or more of the U.S. American Flags. In association with the Blinded Veterans Association
www.bva.org and Wounded Warriorswww.woundedwarriors.org, a portion of all proceeds will benefit our nations’ men and women who have been wounded while valiantly defending our great country.

This fully tactile graphic depicts the U.S. Heritage Flag. The embossed tactile figures on the left hand side are the stars, each of which represents the original thirteen states and are arranged in a circle. The long tactile horizontal lines on the right represent the red stripes and are labeled with the lower case “r” at the far right end. Between each of these tactile representations of the red stripes are the long smooth areas or “white spaces” representing the white stripes of the flag and are labeled with the lower case “w”. As should be, there are thirteen stripes that represent the original thirteen American colonies of England, which became the original thirteen states of the new independent Republic. The pledge of allegiance is written in standard font English literary Braille code over the raised red stripes. Immediately beneath the flag is a “key” in English literary Braille code.

This graphic equally serves as a teaching/learning tactile aid for teaching blind elementary school students how the U.S. flag is designed and are easily handed out as demonstration pieces at a conference, workshop, or seminar. You may also choose to donate copies to your local veterans hospitals, schools, churches, museums, libraries, and civic groups and for memorial use. All tactile flags may be displayed indoors or outdoors.

Each flag has been carefully constructed from American thermoform and are well sized for portability and durability. Thermoform is a specially constructed flexible plastic fiber noted for retaining tactile graphics and Braille information. Framed or otherwise you will be proud to display your fully tactile American Flags.

It is recommended if you decide to frame or label your flags; do not place them behind a glass frame if you intend to let them be touched.

A minimum donation of five dollars per flag includes shipping and handling. Any request for overnight or next day delivery will be extra. Out of country orders may also incur additional cost. Due to the high volume of orders being processed during this flag season delivery may take up to one week. We appreciate your patience.
