March 28, 2009: The Founding City of Veterans Day, wishes to extend special invitations to American Legion Posts 13 of Yates Center, Kansas and 325 of Toronto, KS, to the "Welcoming the Troops Home" event, scheduled March 28, 2009 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Soden's Grove in Emporia, Kansas. Any future requests for adding your post, organization, or civic group, should be emailed to info@kbti.org.

January 27, 2009: Braille Flag in Topeka: On Monday, January 27, 2009, the Kansas Braille Transcription Institute joined the citizens of Emporia, Kansas in presenting a bronze Braille American Flag to the Kansas Senate, for placement in the state capitol building. June, 2008: The bronze monument of the American Braille Flag was also officially installed and displayed at the Arlington National Cemetery Visitor Center, as a tribute to blind veterans of all wars and other blind Americans.

A replica of the bronze Braille flag set in black granite, complements of KBTI and Granite Transformations of Virginia has been temporarily placed at Women In Military Service For America Memorial, also located on the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery. The bronze and granite monument is currently being scheduled for touring.
Memorial Day, 2008: Old Glory's Journey of Remembrance Randolph Cabral, The Executive Director of the Kansas Braille Transcription Institute, was invited to speak and present the American Braille Flag at the White House Commission on Remembrance's annual National Moment of Remembrance at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The occasion marked the end of Old Glory's Journey of Remembrance, a year-long, nationwide traveling event honoring America's fallen servicemen and women. At this year's ceremony, the American Braille Flag was presented to blinded veterans by blind students.

May, 2008: The American Braille flag in China! A delegation of blinded Americans led by Harold Snider recently visited the People's Republic of China at the request of the China Disabled Persons' Federation. The delegation was in China from May 28 to June 8 and visited five cities. American Braille flags were presented to the China Braille Press, the Nanjing School for the Blind, and four additional schools.

Old Glory's Journey of Remembrance (May 26, 2008): KBTI participated in special events this Memorial Day in Washington, DC, including the installation of the American Braille flag monument in Arlington National Cemetery.
January, 2008: Presidential Candidates support the American Braille Flag!
December, 2007: KBTI public service announcement. KBTI has partnered with Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind person to climb both Mount Everest and all of the Seven Summits (the highest mountain peaks on each of the seven continents), to produce a public service announcement. Fall, 2007: AT&T and the AFJROTC help KBTI. The AT&T Young Pioneers program and the Air Force JROTC have helped KBTI with its American Braille Flags project. On Veterans' Day 2007, a permanent bronze replica of the American Braille flag was installed at Wichita's Veterans Memorial Park. Several prominent Kansas leaders attended the event.
