Admissions:
Braille Transcription: Courses in Braille transcription provide a variety of training experiences, including computer assisted instruction, written materials, and research. Not all courses utilize all approaches. Participants are required to complete 20 lessons including a 35 page trial manuscript. Participants will receive their certification through the Library of Congress.

Lessons can be studied and prepared at both our in-house training facility and in the home with a compatible computer. Lessons can be emailed or faxed, or delivered to instructors via floppy disk. For those with transportation or mobility issues, computers or manual BrailleWriters may be available for use in the home. Those living outside Kansas may contract privately for transcription

BrailleWriter Repair: KBTI's course in manual BrailleWriter repair lasts six months and includes both study and hands-on instruction. It is conducted in-house at our training facility. Applicants are required to have had at least an Eighth Grade-level education and must pass a manual dexterity test. Enrollment and Tuition: If you are interested in applying for admission to our training program, we encourage you to call or visit us in person. You may also fill out our online application for admission and submit it online, or via standard mail, email, or fax. You will also need to fill out an authorization for release of information.
